SNMPProxy Service Guide
The Morio SNMPProxy Service (snmpproxy) provides an HTTP gateway for SNMP connections.
Snmpproxy service responsibilities
The snmpproxy service is a flanking service and is optional.
Query SNMP over HTTP
SNMP is a protocol that has been used for many decades to monitor network devices. It is typically the only way to get runtime information out of devices like routers, switches, storage arrays, and so on.
To access the data, you need a tool that speaks SNMP which adds friction. In addition, the Morio client and the Beats agents it bundles do not support scraping SNMP.
The snmpproxy service provides an HTTP gateway that allows you to issue an HTTP request to query pre-configured SNMP endpoints. This allows easy ingestion of SNMP data inside Morio.
Under the hood
The snmpproxy service is powered by the Prometheus SNMP Exporter.
